Maintenance for Parents
Definition of maintenance for parents and its regulations according to the Personal Status Law.
Article 197
- A prosperous child, whether male or female, adult or minor, must provide maintenance for their poor parents, even if the parents can work.
- If the child is poor but capable of working, they must provide maintenance for their poor parents. If the child's earnings are only sufficient to cover their own needs and those of their spouse and children, they are obligated to support and provide for their parents and their own family.
